The Distinguished Panel:

Steven Jones

Steven Jones joined the Kentucky Labor Cabinet in 2005 as a Senior Safety Consultant. In 2012 he was promoted to Occupational Safety and Health Administrator in charge of the Construction Partnership Program (CPP). Steve is a Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Health Safety Technician (CHST) and possesses two Master’s Degrees.

Greg Harmon

Greg knows safety from the ground up. He worked for Cincinnati Bell for 18 years as a field technician, trainer, and Safety and OSHA Compliance Manager. In 2018, he completed the OSHA 501 course to become an OSHA Outreach Instructor for General Industry. He is currently the Safety Coordinator at the Newport Aquarium and a member of the Kentucky Bar Association.

Michael Chitwood

Michael Chitwood OTR/L, CEAS - Mike is a native of northern Kentucky and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Xavier University in 1999. Mike is certified as an Ergonomic Assessment Specialist (CEAS).

Mike has been the Team Leader of the Work Rehabilitation department for St Elizabeth’s Business Health Center since 2000. The Work Rehabilitation department specializes in injury care focused on returning injured employees back to work using Work Conditioning and Work Hardening treatment.

During his career with St E, Mike has worked closely with employers ranging in size from a few employees to some of the largest employers in our region addressing: ergonomic challenges in the office and industrial settings, developing Injury prevention programs, and tailoring Job Placement Assessment Programs for their new hire needs. Mike is also certified in multiple standardized Job Placement Assessments (JPA’s) and Functional Capacity Evaluation tools (FCE’s).

Tim Zeis

Timothy E. Zeis, Chief Operating Officer, joined the CVG Airport in January 2010 and previously worked for Comair as Vice President Customer Services/Corporate Real Estate. His aviation career began in 1982 with Comair as a part-time ramp agent.

A native of Erlanger, KY, Tim is active in the community by serving and chairing several boards as well as volunteering as a varsity high school football coach for over 20 years. Tim is also a lifelong resident of Northern Kentucky.

Tim received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1996 from Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, KY. TAP#1

Eileen Walz

Eileen is the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources at L'Oréal USA Operations in Florence, KY.

L’Oréal USA, based in New York, NY, is a subsidiary of the L’Oréal Group, headquartered in Paris, France. The Florence Manufacturing facility is one of the largest manufacturing plants for L’Oréal operations worldwide and manufactures hair care products for both the Consumer and Professional products division.

As head of Human Resources in the Florence facility, Eileen is responsible for strategic consulting with the operations team on people strategies, organization design, performance management, recruitment, training, compensation, compliance and organizational culture. . A business partner to key leaders and client groups, Eileen is responsible for anticipating and optimizing the organization’s people needs to align with the overall business strategy. Specifically in the area of Safety Health and Environment, Eileen’s responsibilities include driving, transforming and preserving the culture of positive engagement, supporting interdependence in safety excellence processes.

In collaboration with the senior leadership committee, Eileen and her team focus on a culture of continuous improvement through safety culture leadership, behavioral based programs and employee safety and wellness sustainability strategies.

Eileen has 32 years’ of experience with L’Oréal. Prior to her appointment in Human Resources, Eileen held positions in packaging in both a supervisory and management capacity.

Eileen graduated from Xavier University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.

About the Safety Forum

A group of professionals in the field of Occupational Safety and Health field were discussing how we need a forum that connects on a regular basis to network with others in the field, exchange experiences, trade best practices and learn about essential tools to do our jobs better. While many individuals belong to professional associations, they felt that those associations were not meeting the needs of building a robust, agile community that is loosely formed. Most associations require membership and are often controlled by sponsors & advertisers vs. the community. This forum will be user-driven. Content and topics will be determined by those who attend and participate. We thank the Northern Kentucky Chamber for supporting our efforts.
